2019 Peninsula to Provence
These paintings celebrate the landscape of the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and Provence in the south of France. Following the tradition of many Australian painters for more than 100 years, I have been painting landscapes since we arrived to live on the Westernport side of the Peninsula in 2004. In preparation for a holiday painting trip to France with my wife in the northern hemisphere Spring of 2018 I bought a new light weight easel and experimented with en plein air quick landscapes using gouache. In France we stayed for 5 weeks in two towns – Lourmarin and Saint-Remy-de-Provence, Van Gogh and Cezanne stamping grounds. And yes the light was beautiful, when it didn’t unseasonably rain!
This exhibition was held at The Red Hill Bakery Gallery, Balnarring, 19 Jan — 14 Feb 2019.
